On April 1 2022 the Senate Community Affairs References Committee handled down the report on its Inquiry into the administration of registration and notifications by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and related entities under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (the National Law) (the inquiry).

The inquiry resulted in the Committee making 14 recommendations, including recommending that Ahpra and the National Boards undertake an analysis of the cause of protracted notifications timeframes and identify ways to further improve timeliness.

The next step in the inquiry process is for the federal government to respond to the Committee’s recommendations. We welcome any further involvement in this process.
